JOURNAL ENTRY #5 CHARACTER

As I keep on reading this book it has become a very difficult task in deciding which character I want to talk about. So finally I made the decision that Harry is one of the most interesting characters in this story. He has so much in common with today's young adults and certainly with my own kids.

Harry as any other fourteen year old boy is going through a series of emotions. He reacts unhappily to authority's figures that try to impose limits to his behavior,an example of this is that Harry would not permit his foster parents to make decisions that were his. This is one of the aspects that I can also relate to my personal experience. My kids reaction towards us parents are not always the best. They usually think that they know everything and they do not want us parents to make decisions for them. I have a sixteen years old teenager that always says "Mom times are different,we have another way of thinking" "you are old fashion." I believe that young adults just don't understand that it does not have to do anything with being old fashion is just a matter of responsability. Harry has gone through many emotions. Harry not only lost his parents, but also finds out that his parents were killed. This situation made Harry angry and frustrated. I believe that everyone has been fustrated at least in a certain time of our life. I know actually what Harry is going through because losing someone close to you makes us feel angry and fustrated, especially when you do not have the power to change things.

In the other hand Harry get angry and frustrated when his friends, we saw this very clearly when Hermione and Ron did not respond two his messages. I can also relate this experience even to my personal life. There are times when we reallyneed someone to hear us. I believe that their is nothing more frustrating then waiting for someon to respond to you. Actually this is an actitude that I can observe in my students, but also with my own kids. Youngsters are eager to recieve their parents and friends attention.

Chapter nine and ten are awesome. for the first time Harry has experience jealousy feelings towards Ron and Hermione for becoming the perfect dual and for the first time Harry seems confused around girls. This makes Harry  more reliable to teenager's behavior actually teenagers go through many emotinal problems;which they can not actually control. They do not have absolute control of their emotions. This is part of their human development process. We can see this in our daily life, when our young adults commit suicide, Our adolscents have the need to be heard and share their emotional problems with their parents.

I am sure that not only young adults will experience a close connection with this character, but also adults that in a certain way has gone through some of Harry's emotions such as anger, fear, and loneliness in their personal life.

JOURNAL ENTRY #7 POINT OF VIEW

I am concern that every story has a voice- a narrator whose view in one we share. A writer must decide on who he is going to tell the story. After reading several chapters of the text, and analyzing chapter eleven and twelve the author has applied one of the basic point of view called third- person limited point of view.

Since all of the chapters that I have read, and chapter eleven and twelve are written in third-person point of view, I can witness the events of all the chapters I have read just as this one character witness them. I can certainly share Harry's reaction to everything that happens in the story, but what I know about the other characters is limited.

We know that Harry like any normal fourteen year old boy is embarrassed and disappointed by all the unwanted attention. His classmates are calling him a liar. "She believes that Daily Prophet." said Harry. She thinks i"m a liar and Dumbledore's an old fool?" as I keep reading the chapter I can feel Harry's emotions such as anger, fear and etc. I can also know what he is thinking "He was sick of it; sick of being the person who was stared at and talked about all the time."

In the other hand we do not know Professor Umbridge thoughts and feelings.  All we know about her is through what Harry  says that she has a weird behavior. This is why we can not know everything that is going on, or what is really happening.

This is the reason why the story is so interesting, and why we can not stop reading the book.
